The famed edifice is opening its doors thanks to The Belnord Project, a by-appointment-only art and design exhibition in one of its residences. The space was designed by French California and Evan Snyderman, founder of contemporary design gallery R & Company.

Residence 1005 was decorated with pieces by Nancy Lorenz, Pierre Yovanovitch, Jeff Zimmerman, Haas Brothers, Sergio Rodrigues, Katie Stout, Greta Grossman, and Joaquim Tenreiro, amongst others. Additionally, French California collaborated with Color Atelier to create a custom paint color—aptly named Belnord White—which is available exclusively to residents of The Belnord.

"It was an exciting task to create a space that nods to the classic architecture and exteriors of the landmarked Belnord building while also appealing to a modern day buyer or collector, electing contemporary pieces and colorful works to fill the residence and create a more approaching environment," French California founder Guillaume Coutheillas tells House Beautiful. "Working with Evan Snyderman to select the storied pieces from R & Company was an incredible experience and we're very excited to welcome visitors to the exhibition and residence."

“To mark the completion of the modern rethinking and renovation by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the classic Upper West Side condominium building The Belnord has unveiled a model residence curated by frenchCALIFORNIA that bridges the gap between apartment and gallery. The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom residence, which was just listed for $6.475 million, features iconic design pieces by the likes of Nancy Lorenz and Pierre Yovanovitch from gallery R & Company.”
